Re-roof with rooflights over a new extension

A roof part-way through being covered, photographed from the scaffold. New membrane and battens are down across the whole plane, tiles are being worked up from the eaves in courses, and the openings for a run of rooflights are framed and flashed ready to receive them.
Getting rooflights to sit flat in a tiled plane is a detailing job: the trimmers have to be right, the upstands square, and the flashing kits dressed into the courses as the tiling passes rather than fitted afterwards.
A re-roof is also the single best opportunity a house gets to fix its insulation. With the covering off, the roof build-up is open — and it will not be open again for another forty years.

- Scaffold erected and existing covering stripped
- New breathable membrane and battens laid
- Openings framed and trimmed for rooflights
- Rooflight upstands and flashing kits installed
- Interlocking tiles laid in courses from the eaves
- Verges, ridge and rainwater goods completed
