The ground the house sits in, designed and built to match
One client's review is about a garden rather than a building: "Our new garden is so well designed and thought through… W T Hall have given us our dream garden." Levels, drainage and the relationship between the house and the ground are building problems as much as planting ones.
Because we're already on site doing the structural and groundworks, the garden can be built as part of the same programme rather than as a separate job a year later.
Design and levels
Working out the levels first — thresholds, falls away from the building, steps and retaining — so the finished garden drains properly and the doors open onto something that feels considered rather than left over.
Paving, walls and steps
Natural stone and porcelain paving, sandstone and brick walls, steps, edges and planters, all bedded and drained properly so they're still flat in ten years.
Drainage and groundworks
Land drainage, soakaways, rainwater management and the groundworks that keep surface water away from the building — the least visible and most useful money spent in any garden.
Planting and finishing
Topsoil, turf, beds and planting to finish, or left prepared for your own garden designer to take over — whichever suits the project.
